The Stephens County Honor Guard was formed in 2007 in response to an ever increasing need of full military honors of deceased veterans. At the time of its formation, no other Honor Guard existed within Stephens County. The number of deceased veterans overwhelmed the military’s ability to provide these essential services for the brave men and women who served our country. The Stephens County Honor Guard was formed to meet the needs within Stephens and surrounding counties.
The Honor Guard performs full military honor funeral services which includes Rifle Squad Salute, Taps performed by Bugler, Flag Folding and Flag Presentation. The Honor Guard also performs memorial services, posting of Colors, and parade functions. The Stephens County Honor Guard has proudly performed services at Indiahoma, Del City, Chandler, Walters, Temple, Velma, Marlow, Rush Springs, Comanche, Ft. Sill National Cemetery, and Duncan.
The Stephens County Honor Guard is a not for profit, tax exempt, charitable organization. The Honor Guard charges no fee for any services rendered. The Honor Guard relies upon the generosity of the citizens of Stephens County to continue to serve. There are no membership dues and all organizational expenses are paid through contributions.
